Scrapbooking Layouts of the Month - July 2005

 Supplies:

  • Textured turquoise and green cardstock: Die Cuts With a View
  • Kaleidoscope Kreator software: Kaleidoscope Collections
  • Tim Holtz Distress Ink - Walnut

Directions

  1. Scan photo and open Kalidoscope Kreator software. Open file (import scanned picture) then select lotus shape. Place section of clothing from picture in the lotus shape and print 3 kaleidoscopes.
  2. Cut out kaleidoscope shapes and ink edges.
  3. Adhere metal accents to the center of each kaleidoscope and set aside.
  4. Trim green cardstock to approximately 5" x 12" and ink edges. With the "princess" stamp from the Express It magnetic stamp kit, stamp word across the green cardstock (vertically). Adhere to the left side of the layout.
  5. Adhere kaleidoscopes down the green cardstock strip.
  6. Crop and adhere photo to the top right of the layout.
  7. Below photo, stamp title with alpha stamps and green acrylic paint. Outline letters with brown pen.
 


 "Pigtail Princess"



 "Sunrise"

 Supplies:

  • Brown cardstock - "School Solid" by Paperwhite Inc.
  • Yellow paper - Brushed Yellow (Paper Adventures - Cut-It-Up)
  • Orange paper - Brushed Orange (Paper Adventures - Cut-It-Up)
  • Vellum - Strathmore
  • Kaleidoscope Kreator software: Kaleidoscope Collections
  • Making Memories Foam Stamps - Jersey
  • Ranger Archival Ink - Sepia
  • Fluid Chalk Option ink "Burnt Sienna" (Clearsnap - ColorBox)
  • Tsukineko - Dauber Duos in Satin Rose
  • Sandpaper block
  • Black chalk and rotary distressing tool from Making Memories Distressing kit
  • Brown ribbon - Michaels
  • Brads - Treasured Memories (by Nicole)
  • Font: Viner Hand ITC
  • Other: Computer, scanner and printer

Directions

  1. Scan photo and open software. Open the image then select the lotus shape.
  2. Rotate photo so that the flat edge lies below the curved area of the lotus shape. Save and print kaleidoscope. Cut out kaleidoscope and set aside.
  3. Tear a strip of yellow paper and a strip of orange paper. Layer and adhere at the bottom of the brown cardstock.
  4. With the rotary distressing tool, roll/distress all over the edges of the layout.
  5. Take the canister of black chalk - turn upside down and rub all over the edges - highlighting the distressed areas.
  6. Follow by taking a sandpaper block and sanding all the edges - taking off some of the color of the papers.
  7. With foam alpha stamps, stamp the title over the yellow and orange papers.
  8. Using the Satin Rose Dauber Duo ink, rub ink all over the bottom and creeping up the sides of the layout, creating another layer of color to mimic the photo. (Note: you may need to blend and soften effects with a sponge)
  9. Repeat this last step in the top corners and blend.
  10. Print quote onto vellum, crop and attach to layout using brads. Adhere a knotted piece of ribbon at the top of the journaling.
  11. Adhere the kaleidoscope to the layout.



"4th of July"

 Supplies:

  • Cardstock (blue): AC Moore
  • Vellum: Strathmore
  • Kreative Kaleidoscopes stickers - Flag: Kaleidoscope Collections
  • VersaMagic ink - Cloud White: Tsukineko
  • Ribbon - Offray
  • Mini brads - Making Memories
  • Font - Teletype
  • Dymo label maker with black tape

Directions:

  1. Ink edges of blue cardstock with white ink.
  2. Place large Kreative Kaleidoscopes frame sticker on the top left corner of the cardstock.
  3. Adhere photo - centered in frame and place 3 mini brads above and below photo.
  4. Crop smaller photos and adhere below the frame.
  5. Adhere Kreative Kaleidoscopes tag sticker in the bottom right area of the layout. Print "4TH OF JULY" with Dymo labelmaker and adhere - centered on tag.
  6. Adhere a knotted length of blue ribbon to the side of the tag.
  7. Print journaling on vellum, trim and ink edges with white ink. Adhere to the page with mini brads.
  8. Tie a bow with the red, white and blue ribbon and adhere above journaling.

  • Photo corners - Pioneer
  • Various metal & metal-look alphabets: JoAnn ScrapEssentials

 Directions

  1. Place 12" Kreative Kaleidoscopes sticker at top of layout.
  2. Adhere photo to vellum with photo corners and place Kreative Kaleidoscopes sticker to the right of the photo, leaving a gap for the ribbon.
  3. Adhere a length of ribbon between photo and sticker - then adhere a knotted length of ribbon on top. Adhere photo to layout.
  4. Place a Kreative Kaleidoscopes tag sticker to the left of the photo. Tie a bow with the ribbon and adhere to the top of the tag.
  5. Using various styles of alphabets, adhere title to the bottom of the layout.
 


 "Flower Power"



"Love and Cherish"

 Supplies:

  • Textured brown and pale turquoise cardstock: Bazzill
  • Kreative Kaleidoscopes stickers - Tree Spirits 2: Kaleidoscope Collections
  • Various ribbon - Michaels
  • Alpha stamps - Perky upper and lowercase: My Sentiments Exactly
  • Diamond Background stamp - Stamps Happen
  • Ranger Archival Ink - Sepia
  • Love and Cherish sticker/embellishments: JoAnn CraftEssentials
  • Staples - Office Supply store
  • Other tools: Circle punch and small curved scissors.

Directions:

  1. Ink edges of brown cardstock. Trim a piece of pale turquoise cardstock to about 4" x 12". Stamp with Diamond Background and ink edges. Adhere to the bottom of the layout.
  2. Trim a smaller piece of turquoise cardstock to fit inside Kreative Kaleidoscopes frame sticker. Stamp journaling on cardstock (making sure it will fit inside the frame) and adhere to the right side of the stamped strip of paper.
  3. Place frame sticker over journaling block.
  4. At varying angles, place the Love and Cherish stickers near the left side of stamped strip.
  5. Fold and staple various ribbons into "V" shapes and tuck under the Love and Cherish embellishments.
  6. Trim pale turquoise cardstock to mat photo. Ink edges. Adhere mat and photo to layout - altering the angle of the mat.
  7. Using the 12" Kreative Kaleidoscope sticker strip, cut the circles out of the design and adhere randomly to the top portion of the page.
  8. Punch circles out of pale turquoise cardstock and ink edges. Adhere to the layout.

 "Daffodils in bloom"

 Directions

  1. Scan photo and open Kaleidoscope Kreator software. Open file (import scanned picture) then select lace shape. Place section of photo in lace template, focusing on the center of the daffodil. Save and print image (this image is the very left image on the layout).
  2. Using saved kimage, change shape template to flower and position previous kaleidoscope in the flower template to create another image. When placing the image in the template, put the lace edge of the original kaleidoscope so that it ends up in the center of the kaleidoscope instead of the outside edges. Print 2nd image (this image appears 2nd from the right on the layout shown here).
  3. Import the original photo again. Select the Northern Star shape and position photo, again focusing on the center of the daffodil. Save image.
  4. Using this saved kaleidoscope, select the flower shape and position the Northern Star kaleidoscope image in the flower shape until desired look is achieved. Print image (this image is 2nd from the left on the layout shown).
  5. Import the Northern Star kaleidoscope again. This time select the Northern star shape again, putting the original Northern Star kaleidoscope inside another Northern Star shape. Position image and print when desired look is achieved (image described is shown as the center flower on the layout).
  6. Import the original daffodil photo again. Select square shape, position photo (focusing on the center of the daffodil) and save image.
  7. Using this last saved image, select the square shape again and place square kaleidoscope image within the square shape again. Save the image.
  8. Using this last saved doubled square kaleidoscope image, select the lace shape and position the double square kaleidoscope within. Move image around until desired look is achieved. Print image (shown on the very right of the layout).
  9. Cut out each of the 5 printed images, including the centers if applicable. Place on layout and adhere with glue dots.
  10. With a green pen, make loose, random strokes for the leaves/stems of the flowers on the layout.
  11. Place buttons in the centers of each flower.
  12. Cut a strip of burlap and fray edges by pulling out individual fibers. Stamp the word "DAFFODILLS" on the burlap, using the same green pen to ink the stamps.
  13. With Glue Dots, adhere burlap to layout. On the right edge of the burlap, adhere 2 leaves and a button.
  14. Below the burlap title, handwrite sub-title using the same green pen.



"Moments with Memaw"

"Moments with Memaw Tag"

 Directions:

  1. Place the 12" sticker strip to the pink cardstock leaving several inches of border near the top of the page.
  2. Frame your photo with the frame sticker then mat with burgundy cardstock. Place on the layout, centered over the sticker strip.
  3. Using manila colored acrylic paint and the floral foam stamp, stamp images randomly all over the pink cardstock.
  4. Repeat the process using the white (spotlight) acrylic paint - stamping over the manila colored image, but turning slightly doubling the petals on the original image. Let dry.
  5. Place letter stickers on layout for the title, just below and to the left of the photo.
  6. Place buckle on ribbon and adhere to layout, preferable with buckle in the center of one of the stamped flowers and slightly to the left to make room for the mini bag on the right.
  7. Place Kreative Kaleidoscopes sticker on the mini bag and place letter stickers over sticker to spell "open".
  8. Mat a Kreative Kaleidoscopes tag sticker with burgundy cardstock then use rub-ons to journal the date.
  9. Place a brad through the center of a faux flower and through the top of the tag.
  10. Trace tag shape onto a piece of white cardstock and cut out. Write journaling on white cardstock with Plum pen and adhere to the back of the tag.
  11. Place tag inside mini bag and adhere mini bag over the ribbon.
