  • Ranger Archival Ink - Sepia
  • Pearl Ex Stamp Pad - Gold

  • Staples - office supply store

  • Jute - AC Moore
  • Slide Mount - unknown
  • Envelope - unknown
  • Brown ribbon - Morex
  • Gold ribbon - Wal-Mart

    Other tools:
  • toaster oven and index card or scrap of heavy cardstock
  • pasta machine (dedicated to clay) - optional
  • computer and printer
  • hole punch
  • craft knife

 Directions

  1. Trim patterned paper to 3" x 12" then tear off about 1/2" of one of the long sides to make a side border for the left page. Repeat this process to make the side border for the right page. Adhere to brown cardstock.
  2. Cut a 14" piece of jute. Making sure you space evenly, tie 3 knots in jute then staple to patterned paper border on the left page of the layout.
  3. Print title on rust cardstock, trim then ink edges with Sepia ink and gold Pearl Ex stamp pad. Also dab Pearl Ex pad across the center of the title block.
  4. Mat photos on rust cardstock and adhere to page 1.
  5. Stamp mask image on rust cardstock. Tear around image and ink edges with Sepia ink and gold Pearl Ex stamp pad. Color in image with pencils. Adhere to page.
  6. Cover slide mount with patterned paper (using craft knife to cut an "X" in the center of patterned paper to allow paper to fold around center of slide mount).
  7. Tie gold and brown ribbons to slide mount and adhere slide mount to page 1 - to the right of the title block.
  8. Mount other 2 pictures on rust cardstock and adhere to page 2.
  9. Stamp Africa map image on rust cardstock. Tear around the image then ink edges with Sepia ink and gold Pearl Ex pad. Adhere to the bottom left side of page 2.
  10. Punch a small hole in the flap of the paper bag envelope. Cut a small piece of jute, thread through the hole and knot.
  11. Cut a small piece of patterned paper to fit the paper bag envelope and adhere. Place embossed label stickers on envelope in a random fashion. Adhere envelope to page 2.
  12. Take a small lump of all 3 colors of clay and start working together. Conditioning and blending clay can be achieved easily with the help of a dedicated pasta machine.
  13. Once colors are fairly blended (some separation of color is ok), push a piece of blended clay into the Art Mould. Remove excess clay and push clay from mould. Make a total of 4 masks with the Art Mould. Arrange clay pieces on an index card or heavy cardstock for baking. Bake clay according to manufacturers instructions and let cool completely.
  14. Once clay has cooled, rub images with gold Pearl Ex pad to highlight elevated areas of the images.
  15. Adhere one of the clay masks over the slide mount on page 1 and the other 3 masks on the 2nd page - spaced out evenly going down the patterned paper border.

"Jungle Fun"

Directions:

  1. Stamp leaf image across the top of both pages of green cardstock
  2. Place wooden letters on stamped leaves
  3. Trim 2 strips of patterned paper measuring 2 1/2" x 12" and adhere near the bottom of each page
  4. Print journaling onto vellum. Trim journaling block to 4" x 5" and mount on a 4" x 6" piece of patterned paper. Mount this on black cardstock.

  6. Using photo corners, adhere 1st picture below journaling block.
  7. Adhere 2nd picture to the right of the journaling block.
  8. With the Dymo label maker and green label tape, print label and place under 2nd picture.
  9. Tie ribbon onto both sides of bookplate and adhere over label.
  10. Cut a 9" length of jute and glue to patterned paper (below bookplate) in a swirl design.
  11. Using a Sizzix machine (or a rubber mallet), flatten bottlecaps.
  12. With a circle punch, punch 3 circles of patterned paper to fit the bottlecaps.
  13. Affix rub-on letters onto punched circles then adhere circles to bottlecaps
  14. Adhere 3rd picture to the 2nd page, then arrange and adhere bottlecaps so that the 3rd one (letter "N") overlaps the picture.
  15. Stamp leaf image on the library card envelope. Wrap a piece of jute around the envelope then knot it and trim ends.
  16. Fill out library card (I used the names of the children in our group) and place in envelope. Adhere to the lower left corner of the 2nd page.
  17. Create another label with Dymo label maker and green tape - adhere to 2nd page under 3rd picture. Tie ribbon onto both sides of another bookplate and place over the label.

  • Ivory and black cardstock - AC Moore
  • Patterned paper - Funky Stripes - Hot Off The Press, Inc.
  • Rubber stamps - After Midnight Art Stamps
  • Graphite Black - Brilliance Archival ink - Tsukineko, Inc.
  • Page Pebbles - Making Memories
  • Foam alphabet stamps - Making Memories
  • Black marker - ZIG
  • Flower - AC Moore
  • Black thread - Coats & Clark
  • Sewing Machine

Directions:

  1. Using patterned paper, cut 4 thin 12" strips, 2 large circles, 2 half circles, 1 strip measuring 3 1/4" x 12", and one strip measuring 1 1/2" x 1 1/2"
  2. With a sewing machine, stitch around the circles and half circles with black thread using a straight stitch.
  3. Adhere strips of paper and circles across both pages. The 1 1/2"x 1 1/2" strip can be used between the top of the 2nd page and the 2nd photo.
  4. Mat the large photo on a piece of ivory cardstock - only leaving a large border on both sides but flush on the top and bottom.

  6. Cut the large photo where it lays over the seam of the 2 pages and adhere so that the image will look like one photo again when both pages are laying together.

  8. Mat the 2nd and 3rd photos on black cardstock and to page 2 of the layout.
  9. Cut another - smaller circle out of ivory cardstock, ink edges and journal on it - then adhere over ivory strip next to the 2nd photo.
  10. Stamp letters on blocks of ivory cardstock, trim, ink edges, and adhere in a random fashion across both pages.
  11. Lay 4 Page Pebbles on patterned paper and trim around them. Adhere one Page Pebble to a faux flower (as it's center) and adhere to page 1 on the large circle.
  12. Adhere another Page Pebble to page 1 (between the title blocks) and the other 2 above and below the journaling circle.
